Thread: SATimko's Stereo Build

    SATimko's Stereo Build

Ok, need some suggestions. I know quite a few of you have upgraded pieces of your stereos, and now it's my turn. Here's what I'd like to do, if you have any suggestions, please throw them out there.

Sound quality setup. Front components will be changed out and amplified. Sub will probably be included. Massive bass is no longer needed. I've grown up from the 800w rms 2x12 setups.

    Ideas of mine:
    Fronts
    MB Quarts
    Memphis M-class
    Focal
    Infinity Kappa Perfect

    Sub
    MB Quart
    Memphis
    Infinity Basslink

    Amps
    JL 300/2 (already own)
Infinity 4 channel expansion for the basslink
    Alpine 5 channel

I'm open to any brand suggestions, but I'm looking for quality pieces.

basslink basslink basslink. It makes no sense to destroy the functionality of a wagon with a sub box.

Infinity everything FTW.. You don't have to do a box, you can always do a false floor, and keep most of the wagon function.

    try lube?

Given that they were able to coast after that happened, it leads me to believe that Mitsubishi trannies suck so much they don't even make good anchors. :D

I am thinking of going that route. If I get the new gen basslink, I can run all interior speakers off of the expansion module...

you'll just have to make some sort of quick disconnect when you want to remove it for the cargo capacity (I never have, I toss my mountain bike right on top of it haha) or for racing. right now it's just the 3 screw on terminals (power, ground, remote) + two rcas to get it out so I haven't bothered looking for a nice beefy gauge wiring harness plug to use.

I know you didn't mention upgrading the rear speakers but I'll take that even further and say remove the rear speakers entirely they're like 4-5 pounds a piece

I was thinking that, but I'd have to see how I like it. I know you really can't hear the rear stage, and it's more or less pointless, but I usually tend to have a few people in my car commonly. That's still up for debate.

If you have a few people in your car, you can't listen to loud music anyway (unless your goal is to prevent conversation entirely)

I can sit in my back seat and tell you how it is though if you want :P

I had the regular Kappas (green) in my Civic since about 2001 or 2002. The fronts are still working great, the rears fell victim to sun damage. They warped and the surrounds broke apart. Even then, they still sounded good.
