Hey guys, just signed up here to learn.

But i drive a mazda protege 2003 es and i wanted to know how to get my protege to sound like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4EXKSyxm_sw

Racing Beat Cat back exhaust and OBX 4->1 header, the rest is stock. I think the OBX is not sold anymore, I would imagine the racing beat still is. I would think any 4 to 1 header should sound similar. Hopefully someone else can chime in on that. My protege is still stock, exhaust wise..

The RB exhaust on a protege sounds awesome. My dad never had a header on his car though, so I cant say anything about that.

Nope, you can run it with the stock header. If you want a little more sound/power you can pick up a header. Personally I thought the RB exhaust with an intake sounded awesome.

I'd start with that and see if it's good to you. Some people think an intake is helpful to balance out the sound. I had only a cat back on my miata and liked how it sounded..

But I don't want the exhaust to be loud , I want it to be like the one in the YouTube video

Racing beat is pretty much the quietest option you have...

Here's an exhaust thread on this forum:
