    Diet benefits

Just flipping through the new C&D and found an interesting article. Audi dropped 500 lbs from an A5 and replaced its 3.2 six with a 2.0 turbo four to achieve almost 50% better fuel efficiency AND better performance. If you haven't already, read it here. Certainly not a new concept, but a great illustration of what's possible without going to alternative power sources.

Scale this down and you might get a 1 liter turbo Mazda2 with 55 mpg.

But that's not what 'Mericans' want.

Indeed. Bells and whistles and big power out of big engines is what the "Murricans want.

What the hell is "Sound Engineering - a spearker amplifies the engine to man things up"?

Not sure. Either that or what GM did with the new Equinox. In order to get better mileage they did several things. One thing was to lower the idle RPM. Unfortunately, that caused all sorts of noises to come about. They decided to create an inverse sound wave to be produced by the radio to cancel out the noises.

Maybe its the thing where the fill the car with so much sound deadening to cancel road noise that you cant hear the engine at all so they add a tube through the firewall to the engine.
