Welcome to the forum and especially the rotary sub-forum..

I will be your tour guide my name is Dave I am your rotary expert for the evening lol

    anywho

    YES you can..

I would recommend the ELF/Total 5w30 if you are using the stock omp (it was made specifically for the rotary engine)

if you are like me and don;t use the omp and are premixing you can use any of the following

    0w30
    5w30
    5w40
    or like me 10w50

I have this oil for sale for a great price.

chek out the above link and you will see a price and a list of what u will get..

I know I am old school in a lot of ways, but I always heard synthetics were a bad idea for a rotary if using the OMP because they won't burn cleanly.

thats why u have to use the ELF 5w30 SXR because it was specially forumlated with the rotary engine in mind...

Mazda has given it the seal of approval

I've been using Castrol GTX 20/50 in all my RX-7s since day 1. No need to spend more money just to worry about whether your synthetic oil is high enough quality or not.

    Castrol GTX FTW!

thats the thing the price of the synthetic oil is right at the same cost of the gtx... well preaty much...

as for the rx8 I would always premix a bit and omp... and take it formme I use the 10w50 in my 7 and not only did I get better gas mileage (about 3mpg increase) but I think the engine will be much better due to less friction..

I am using it directly from the start up in my car.. I wont use anything else in any car.. I just got my bimmer 212K on the clock and I put elf in it now at almost 215 it does great!

It's pretty warm around here in the summer, hence the 20/50.

I agree that if money were no object, some nice synth stuff like Elf, Idemitsu, or Neo would be better than plain ol' GTX, but in my real (broke) world, I just can't justify the price difference, and I don't wanna use Mobil1.

My trannys, shifters and diffs all have either Neo or Redline in 'em though.
