    Hi,

I am replacing the EGR valve, and when I order the part online it says "You must follow the instructions on Mazda bulletin 01-07-17 issued 06/07".

Does anyone know the specifics of this bulletin, or even better - have a copy?

    Thanks...

Sure thing. First, is this a canadian EGR or a "rest of the planet" EGR?

I'm guessing rest of the planet because the canadian one is free including labour.

    Here's a how-to for the install:

Sorry I should have been clearer. I just bought this 2002 protege, and I am in Canada.

I cleared the light yesterday (cleaned the EGR) so I have to wait until it shows up again to take it in for the dealer to replace it, and they are going to charge their $110+tax diagnostic fee before they replace the EGR.

So I might just get the part and do it myself but when I am ordering online they say you need the Mazda bulletin 01-07-17 issued 06/07 - to figure out how to hook up the new hoses. Any idea where I can get it?

what year and size engine do you have?

if you have a 2.0L or 1.6L there is an extended warranty on the EGR valve. It is 7 yr/unlimited mielage.

the 2.0l is covered 2001-2003, the 1.6L is covered 1999-2001.

basically, if your within the period, and have the engine light on with the EGR code, the dealer will replace it at no charge. you wont have to pay the dia fee. you will only have to pay the diag and replacement if your car is the 1.6L and its either a 2002, or 2003.

but the EGR code HAS to be on in the system. also, i dont think you can get the updated egr valves from the states/online (i could be mistaken). they are different than the normal egr valves

Has anyone found an MSP service manual with part #s etc?

So would anyone in canada buy the egr and mail it to me?
