Looking for something that could perform...
Hit me back with some ideas please
Thanx,

do you have the 1.8 or 1.6? the 1.8 will accept any 2.0 turbo kit with minimal fuss - the 1.6 will turbo well too.

if you don't already have it, i would recommend a 1.8. all three will turbo, but the 1.8 is a little more on the reliable side after boost.

hmmm id say the best turbo engine you could put in a car would be a quad turbo Veyron engine....maybe he meant what turbo KIT would be best??
If u were serious then id say put a turbo KLZE in there...but if you have to ask the question "whats the best turbo engine I could put in my pro?" I doubt you have enough experience or knowledge to pull it off....do a couple years of solid research and return with more specific questions...or pay someone to do the work for you

You say 1.8... Ok no problem but what the name/number for the engine for example (SR20 DET)???

Engine swaps are not very feasible on our vehicles, so most people just turbo what's already in there. If you have a 1.8/2.0 then it'll be pretty easy to locate a good kit. You can use the MSP T25 turbo setup, HiBoost, etc.
Good luck, and do LOTS of research and preparation BEFORE you start getting your hands dirty. It'll save you a lot of time and money.
EDIT: The 1.8 is a FP-DE and the 2.0 is FS-DE engine. The MSP (Mazdaspeed Protege) is labeled as FS-DET

Ok, so you have the ZM-DE 1.6L. That's actually better for you, cuz those engines hold up to boost a lot better than the 1.8/2.0 engines.
If you have the money, I say go for the HiBoost kit. They make a bolt on complete kit for the 1.6L Protege. It's the only "kit" available for your car anyway, unless you're willing to spend lots of time custom fabricating something of your own.

in your case, yes...Im not trying to be an asshole but you really dont sound like you know anything about cars in general...let alone these cars...you need to do some research before you start swapping out engines and turbos...
so yes...stay stock or buy a better car that comes with a turbo
Three options:
Turbo your 1.6 and it still wont be fast (I know because my 2.0 is turbo and still slow)
Engine swap which will cost a boat-load and you wont be able to do the labor
buy new car...with the money youd spend going turbo or engine swapping this is probably the best bet
Sorry fourth option: dont mess with your car, you will break it, and you dont know what you are doing yet.
Is this your daily driver?

Very true. Be ready to hand out the cash. You gotta pay to play.. and nothing is as cheap as it seems when you first start. I bought the majority of my turbo kit for only $1000 and thought I was set, but it ended up costing me around $2500 overall once everything was said and done. Little things add up pretty quick..

Let's just say that before you (trini_redo) starting buying and piecing together anything you should be ready to do LOTS and LOTS and THEN EVEN MORE research and reading. If you don't, you'll regret it later when you blow your engine cuz of some small mistake you made.

We'll do whatever we can to educate, but we can only do so much. You learn the most by doing the research yourself.
My advice to you is also to stay stock for now. If you wanna go fast, you have the wrong car.. it's plain and simple. Even after installing a turbo on my 2.0L Protege5 it's still not fast. The car is just now where it SHOULD be from factory.
Now if you want something that's fun to drive and won't get you in a lot of trouble, then the Protege is an excellent car. Install and intake, header and exhaust to make the engine breathe easier (you get SOME power from this, but not much), stiffen up the suspension with some nice struts and springs, get some light weight wheels and nice tires and go have some fun!!
It's a lot less money than a turbo kit, and it's just as much fun. Plus, it's a LOT more reliable without forced induction. I have my turbo in for 2 weeks and problems are popping up left and right..

Shit ok man thanx... That's the better bet for real...
But I'll be buying the intake, exhaust & headers for the 1.6 and not for the 1.8/2.0 right?

why would you buy those things for a 1.8/2.0 if your car is a 1.6?....

Read the books posted, figure out what you want and do it. I'd stick with the 1.6 before swapping another engine in or get another car. With ease you can put down 180+ hp at the wheels on the 1.6.
Going by your name your from Trinidad so you must know at least one trini guy that knows their way around a turbo. All the trini guys I know are gear heads of some sort. Even my trini buddies mom has a Turbo Shelby Daytona lol
