Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve
I just realized mine has been on the car for about 30,000 miles. Any difference between autopart store valves and dealer available valves? I know other cars can be sensitive to what kind of PCV is used.
What the maintainence interval for a PCV anyway?

na they are all the same.. a valve with a spring behind it.. some are stiffer then others but the aftermarket ones are just as good as dealer ones..
I have also read of guys using 626 valves

With my S-series Saturn, those motors would typically get more blow by through the weaker autopart store valves than with the dealer valves.

Keep in mind if you have turbocharged your N/A Protege then you should consider replacing your PCV valve with one from the supercharged Millenia S. If you're still N/A then a regular PCV will work, no need to upgrade ($20.20 is the price of the Millenia one .. part number JE26-13-890)
