This is just gauging interest to see how many people surf tmf from their mobile devices. Through Google Analytics I already have data on browsers and platforms but some can't really be differentiated (i.e. "Internet Explorer" is probably desktop but could be mobile). I'm thinking of adding a minimalist style optimized for mobile devices, but if no one will use it I'd rather work on something more productive.

I know lots of phones can render the site just fine but if you're somewhere without 3G coverage I know how slow it can be to load with all the graphics (signatures, avatars, the logo, etc). This would be implemented such that it displays the mobile version when visiting from your phone and the default style when visiting anywhere else.

For the poll, check off which mobile platform(s)/browser(s) you visit the site from so I can gauge if this would be useful for people.

aw crap I knew I'd forget a platform.. Nokia N810, but it has the nicest mobile web browser I've ever laid eyes on and only has wifi so visiting the site is not a problem from what I've seen.

just a wifi internet device, no phone. If it had a phone I'd use it as my cell phone even though it's a little big. The screen is amazing, the web browsing experience is amazing (has flash player and everything). It can do voice calls through Skype and others but you have to be in wifi range of course.

I think the logic is off in the polls calculations lol

40% + 40% + 20% + 20% + 20% = 140%

That's unpossible. Unless you're like me and use Opera w/ the BB.

I cant comment on 3g but with Edge/Opera Mini/Mobile it is tollerable as is.
This is on Nokia N95

Yeah the numbers aren't useful since it is a multiple choice poll

Dude, if you made a mobile theme, I'd marry you. Well, if you were a girl I'd marry you.

I surf using my BB, Windose mobile IE, and Opera.

Lately it's been hard to browse on the BB. A mobile theme would make me really happy.

Windows Mobile Opera and Skyfire. Opera Mobile not Mini. Also using Google Android. Opera Mobile and Skyfire render the site fine. Considering my Android build is alpha, it still has a couple issues but renders well still. As far as windows mobile goes I think it's fine. The only thing I could think of is disabling images if you aren't on 3g, however Opera Mobile has that feature built in. Honestly, I don't know anyone that still uses IE on the phone, except for a couple dogfooders here at work, and that IE works closer to Opera Mobile so it renders fine anyways. I think BB is the major one to work on a theme for. Also, any user of a Windows Mobile smart phone is completely out of luck for the browsers that render sites in desktop mode. Personally I would focus on BB browsing and Smartphone IE browsing. However, if you did make a mobile site, it would be nice if it was something that could be browsed easily without scrolling left to right. Sites that I can browse using just the scroll wheel and the click button are very very nice to have.
