I'm running PIAA Plasma Ion fog light H3's. They're yellow! Combine that with yellow rockblockers and the road is sunnyside up
H3's MIGHT fit. I know H3C does for sure, but bulb lifepsan sucks.
Chris has a set of 3000K H3 hid's he's going to be attempting to put into his stock fogs.
Or, just go pickup some yellow Catz lights. Replaces teh whole stock foglight with something that's actually useful. lol

And in this one, my projector fog is on top, but at the lower garage line, you can see the yellow in comparison to stock bulb in the projector

I've read on HID and retrofitting forums that you actually want halogen bulbs for foglights, unless you just want em for looks.
For TRUE function in foul weather halogen performs better.
But, if you're in AZ and have beautiful weather, HID fogs is the shiz-nit for night time clear weather driving
And your sig pic is fine. I can see

i've had HID bulbs in both my stock fog's and now in my "new" civic fog's. in my experience, the long (rebased) H3 HID bulbs wont fit, only the small H3C-ish bulbs will. the big problem is not getting the bulb part into the housing, but the interfernce with the back of the bulb and the rear of the fog housing. unless you want to cut a huge hole in the back of your fog housing, get the smaller bulbs.
the smaller bulbs are seen here -
http://www.xequipped.com/ebay2/bulbs101.jpg
the only real problem with the smaller bulbs is that they dont come in that cool yellow coated glass. (3000k color) the lowest they go is 3500k with clear glass, which looks just like a very bright halogen bulb.

I dunno if my HIDs have even shipped.
so I won't find out until like october ha
edit: um wait WTF, those H3 (non C) ones are TOTALLY out of h3 spec? fuck looks like I'll have to return them as soon as they come.

same here dude. I gotta call therpmstore.com in the AM since they haven't shipped them out yet to tell them I don't want them anymore
maybe the ones they're shipping are H3c though.. not sure, I just selected that H3 was the bulb type I didn't see another choice.

You had a problem getting the H3's in your housing? Mine fit fine, it's the wiring that
was a PITA.
As for the H3C's I can tell you they suck. I sell the Techone kits, which are very good kits, but I had to replace nearly every H3C bulb I sold. They just don't hold up well.

i had no problem getting the H3's into the housing, just couldnt get the rear cover back on because of how long they were back there. wait, i actualy had to bend the shield on the stock ES housing to get the long H3 bulb to fit.
the H3C bulbs fit just like the stock bulbs. but, yeah, they suck for reliability.

the only reason I even bothered buying them was that they were only 15-20$ more than decent yellow halogens and I have extra ballasts.
oh well.. it apparently did ship yesterday so I'll just have to see about returning them or sell them to some unsuspecting n00b
as for HID fogs being less functional, that doesn't make any sense. If they're the same colour temp as yellow halogens, they're the same. more light sure but as long as the HIDs work well in the halogen reflectors they should work just as well.
that being said the stock P5/MSP/MP3 fogs don't actually do much of anything ... they're for looks :P

with HID's, they'll be a little bit more functional

Yeah they are pretty much for looks. Unless you aim them higher then you actually get something out of them

fog lights should only really light up the road right in front of the car - maybe 20 or 30ft of road. aim them too high, and you defeat the purpose of the fog lights.

aim them up higher than stock and you give glare.. they're really crummy lights honestly. I had mine aimed a little bit up before and it was really bright (i.e. you'd get people flashing their lights at you at night).

mine are aimed "stock" and you literally from the driver's seat can't see the light they output. --unless you crank the height of the seat up or actively sit up to try and see the light.
if I keep the car I may just replace them with crazy driving lights. I was driving my mom's 08 altima last night and it has a nice low beam pattern with it's HIDs (no projector but stock HIDs) and then you put on the highs and it lights up the entire planet. crazy amounts of light off to the sides, up into the sky (lights up all the trees), and at least 4x as far off into the distance in front of the car. Physically they're similar to P5 highs but the P5 highs barely do more than the lows.

The highs really do suck. That's why i want HID highs and not lows because I drive a lot with my highs on at night. Not much traffic in the middle of nowhere!!!

Ebay special? Doh! Joo won't be happy! Your stocker bulbs are gonna be brighter!
Unless you just wanted yellow bulb. Shoulda gone with the PIAA Plasma Ion!

08-18-2008, 01:38 AM
haha i hope not:) but it was only 12 bucks compared to 50:) so its worth a try... if these suck, then lesson learned and i go PIAA
pro5x2
08-18-2008, 08:10 AM
I got both in my cars. I've got PIAA's and wife has Ebay cheapies. They look cool cause you get the yellow bulb, but the PIAA's perform WAY better!
