and Liquid_ag.. they'll be coming by your area too, up through Syracuse and then west to Rochester. It's on the 26th or 27th?

The plan is to drive up to Rochester the morning of the 27th. Rob is getting his exhaust installed that morning and then we are heading up.

Not yet, I assume we were going to take 15 North up to 390, thats the route I took last time.

O RLY. Then nvm you guys won't be coming through syracuse. The last time I did the drive was from Delaware so perhaps it's different.. but I went through Philadelphia and Syracuse. I think I did that on my way down to Rob's house as well. The only time I did 390 down and out of NY was when going to Carlisle.

takes 30mins longer if you take 81 from Harrisburg.. sucks. I hate the PA part, it's just driving through a bunch of little PA towns, no highway :(

I see the sign for it any time I am going home or coming back to Rochester... so at least 14 times a year. I've never been :P

lol, its nothing special... really. like a building with some stuff in it, next to an old barn like structure with some plaques. there are a couple of bar's / pubs in seneca falls, but i have no reservations against driving somewhere to meet you guys either.

if you were to come up into seneca falls, unfortunately there is no real direct route here. so, it would be up to you. you could come up 81 to i-90 to rochester, and stop off somewhere. but, i-90 is a toll road. :( if you come up 390 into rochester, i could take a long lunch and come out there somewhere.

the toll between rochester and syracuse is pretty cheap though.

If you come up into Syracuse then you only have to travel the toll road from Syracuse to Rochester, stopping @ Seneca Falls.

derek.. on google maps, plot the route from baltimore to rochester, then drag the route to force it to go through syracuse and it should work. When I did it, from harrisburg instead of going north onto back roads you go onto 81, which goes all the way into Syracuse IIRC. I'd check but I'm on a bluetooth dial-up connection, loading google maps would be nearly impossible.

I'll have to look into that. I enjoyed taking 15 up last year though, very scenic drive.

It's a way more boring and less scenic route.. and takes 30 mins longer. I also can't remember if 81 is a toll road or not. I don't think it is in NY at least.

thursday night I'm forcing both of you to come to Mississauga (Toronto suburb) for a toprotege westside meet. We can all carpool in my car but definitely need to get to one last meet :)

That meet starts around 7pm though so we just need to leave Rochester by 4ish

One thing though: I have applied for my passport, but they said it will be at least 4 weeks. Is that going to be a problem, or can I still use my birth certificate? If I ride with you (as apposed to driving my car) will that be easier?

you can still get in with just a notarized birth certificate + photo ID

I had some engine trouble this weekend, so I may not be able to make this :(

Thought the intake manifold was fixed, but had something hit the spark plug in cylinder 4. It's running again, but I really don't want to think about a tow bill from NY. After we take off the intake manifold and inspect it, I'll have an idea if I want to chance this or not.

what did you do to fix the intake manifold? do it yourself or warranty?

My friend and I did it ourselves.

I had to leave the car at the shop tonight, it started making a noise again. However, this time it didn't throw a code and by the time I got back to the shop it was running okay again. So either something is in the intake manifold, or in the engine. Hoping it's the first, because then I can still possibly go on the cruise still. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Derek...it's because Sand Mica is rejecting the MSP conversion. It knows that such a slow color should never be made to look fast.

Well guys, I won't be able to make it to NY. I was hoping my engine would be okay, but its having some issues and I don't want to chance breaking down and having an insane tow bill.

I am going to attempt a trip to State College next week. If the car makes it okay, I will see about driving out to Phens for that meet. But more than a few hours driving at a time makes me nervous right now (considering I've only had it back for two days so far.)

I'm meeting up with Rob tomorrow night to break the bad news. I really wanted to go to this too :(

Yeah, I was really looking forward to the trip. Especially meeting up with Nik and making the Canada trip. But I really don't want to break down. Funny enough, the first time I had a VICS issue was exactly a week after the night we got lost in Canada.

Also, I now have to use the trip money to buy the pistons and rods so I can get the engine into the machine shop soon.
