Well I have a chance to snag some MazdaSpeed green adjustable struts, and I'm wondering if anyone here knows much about them. I know the fronts are Tokico and the rear are KYB (not a very big fan of them..) but I do like the ability to adjust the rear a lot easier.

They've got about 35K miles on them, which isn't horrible but then again isn't quite optimal either. Price on them would be dirt cheap compared to what they were new, so it's really hard to pass up the opportunity.

Ultimate question here is whether I should keep my Illuminas or give the greenies a shot?

how much would you pay for the greens?

Somewhere around $210 shipped .. compared to $400 each when they were new.

you could... but depending on how they were used, don't expect 50,000 more miles out of em...

for that price, take them, try them. if you dont like it, im sure you can move them fast. as you can clearly see. if you dont want that kind of hasstle, then just keep the illums.

How sure are you that they have 35K miles on them? Most of the people that have those struts in North America got them used from Japan, not new.

Not 100% positive, but Macdaddyslomo is the one selling them .. so I see no reason for him to lie to me. I think I might grab and try them out, if I don't like them they shouldn't be a hard item to sell. I mainly like them better at this point due to the fact that the rear settings are much much easier to adjust since they have the knob on the bottom of the strut. However, the rears are made by KYB, and that doesn't make me too happy..

Yeah but they're not like the KYB GR2 or anything.

I've never actually seen good products from KYB but I'm sure they make them :P

and yeah you can trust him. He probably bought them new.

Are they the actual green ones? Mazdaspeed made some lime green struts awhile back, but you need the 1999 front endlinks or they won't bolt up. Be careful, because SRM awhile ago was selling KYB's painted like the Mazdaspeed greens and marketing them as the greens.

I forget who, but someone had the paint come off and saw the KYB logo under and knew they got scammed.

um KYB actually made the rear struts for the real Mazdaspeed greens. Tokico for the fronts. And yeah they are the real thing and you do need the endlinks --I mentioned that to KrayzieFox in the thread where he found them (not this forum)

Fair enough, just checking. SRM has a bad habit of "substituting" things without asking lol!

Anyway Chris, the struts are yours if you want them that bad. I was gonna buy them as soon as they were off the car, but I've decided to let you have them cuz of the springs you got. That and I also don't feel like buying new endlinks..

So anyway, enjoy them dude :)

Were you just buying them to have easier adjustment of the rear ones?

You could always drill a hole in the top of the steel cap over the rear struts. Dunno how much you can cut to keep it safe in term of supporting the rear seat belts but I bet you could drill enough no problem.

Yea pretty much, and for the uniqueness factor as well I suppose. Since no one ever rides in the back of my car anyway, I have the rear seat belts out right now to give me easy access so it's all good.

lol that's the spirit. I didn't have the balls to remove all of my rear belts. I do have the middle seat belt completely removed.. been that way for probably three years at this point :P

I think I've had rear passengers a total of .. maybe 10-15 in the 4 years I've owned the P5. And of those 10-15 times the rear belts were used maybe once.
