Well thanks to Pat,
I am well on my way to getting the trans out of the MSP.
The only thing left is to support the trans and unbolt it from the
motor. then the fun begins ... trying to find the cause of the
3 speed trans.
Anyway I thought I would through up some pics:

lol, those axles are a BITCH aren't they?

especially that passenger side one....every single protege I have worked on tends to have the passenger side axle spline basically seize up inside the wheel hub >.<

ForceFed

its from all the torque.

Looks major, just short of epic ;)

its from all the torque.

You can say that again. Even my P5 loses traction due to uneven surfaces in 1st gear :woa:

Those are great pics man. I have to replace my driver side axle soon and those pics are probably gonna help. Good luck with everything, I hope for a speedy recovery for your Protege.

hahahahahaha
I do gotta admit though, my last dyno was more torque than horsepower

but that still doesnt mean it has a lot of torque haha

Now after looking at the inside of this thing for over 1 1/2 hrs
I can't see anything broke or damaged with the forks or gearing
so I'm taking it into a trans shop near here and they get back
to me tomorrow with the culprit.

what were the symptoms? why where you taking it out?

if its a broken lsd the part that breaks is on the other side of what you are looking at I believe...

pdhaudio83
07-24-2008, 07:27 AM
yah, try picking up the final gear (LSD)

GOTBOOST
07-24-2008, 11:25 AM
The problem was I had no 1st or 2nd gear. I mean it just would
not go up or down from neutral. I thought if the diff go's then
the car don't move at all? I still drove in 3,4,5 and reverse.
Ace transmition is looking at it for free since it's out of the car.

neox.286
07-24-2008, 03:12 PM
were you able to get normal speeds out of 3, 4, and 5? or was it acting like it was having a hard time going in those gears? if its the later, then its the lsd....if its the former, then idk lol

nope no problem get up to speed in those gears.
I just got off the phone with Ace and they said that some bearings
and small brass gears in between the drive gears were bound up and
thats why it woundn't go into those gears. They are waiting on prices
for parts and will call back yet today. They also new about the diff problems
and will give me a quote for that too.

dude that seriously sounds a bit... interesting.

people are driving much harder than you and haven't had issues.

take it to Borgman Mazda see what Mike Capizzi says (He's like top 15 in the nation in Mazda mechanics) They charged me like $500 to rebuild my trans when the shift fork busted... get it done right the first time...

I had a feeling man. I paid $1100? to have mine completely rebuilt.

Fuck $1700.

Bring it to Borgman and get a quote... make SURE that Mike Capizzi works on it (I think he's the only one with the credentials to do so...)

That's a joke. You should tell Ace to fuck themselves. (literally)

Make sure you talk to Paul Peppel... he knows me well :)

Well its' done and back in! the brass rings and gears were all
mashed up and they had to replace the hub assembly.
On a good note though since they had the trans apart already
they welded my diff. for me.
I guess what's done is done, atleast I have my baby back!!!
