I finally got my RX-8s back from the powdercoater. Since there is no clear on the wheels, the finish looks kinda satin, but it does have a lot of metal flake in it, so it sparkles in sunlight.

Tires are Yokohama S-drive in 235/40/18. The suspension is stock for now, but I may lower it with either Cobb or Road Magnet springs. Not too low, but a difference. I would really prefer to have coilovers, but that's four times the money, so probably not.

I <3 the RX-8 wheels but you need to post closer pics and more pics in sunlight so we can see the sparkle.

In that pic, they look pretty close to stock color, IMO.

They are very close to stock color. Dunno if I can catch teh sparkle with my crappy cell phone cam (2mp, but no macro).

How you like the S-drives? What kind of tyre are they? Intermediate or a lil more grippy?

RX-8 wheels have become so popular with the Speed3 crowd! The sparkle factor separates yours from the bunch, which is cool. Don't lower it too much, as in that pic, you would have munched the front bumper into the concrete parking stop.

I haven't really pushed it, yesterday I took at rundel @ speed and the tires really hooked up where the stock re050's would have slid. Whether that is due to grippier rubber or 20mm wider tires is up for debate.

Yeah, if I do lower it, I'll have to retrain my thinking. The underbumper piece will already hit that stop.

I can say that if you lower the front or back any.... You'll have problems with parking and speedbumps. saw a way too young for their car. kid driving a ms3, and destroyed his bumper as he tried to park next to mine.

Which of course provided plenty of lulz for me.

I've had lowered cars before, but, if the older you are, the safer you are against damage, I should be able to slam it and still clear anything I want.
