So.....
I am not selling my MSP anymore. I love you guys too much. (mj)

I want to tune it now. As of now, I have the Unichip with base tune they sent with the unit. I have heard people in Columbus and Cincinnatti that can tune on the Unichip. Know anyone? Any experience in tuning the Unichip?

There is also someone in SE Michigan which apparently can chip Ford ECUs (www.fordchip.com but site is down). It is not certain if the MSP ECU can be sucessfully chipped, but I guess they have the Ford programming down. Since I have 2 cars I can drop my MSP off for testing. They would pull the Unichip and try to program the ECU. If they become sucessfull (and I know not many have been) then I will test it for a while then eventually sell the Unichip. Then I would document everything and let you guys know details.

What are your thoughts on these two options? I need a WB O2 now as well, so that I can watch AFRs good and so can they (for road tune). When I go WOT at 8-9psi something happens in the upper RPM range. I don't know what it is but the car vibrates and the power seems to peak and flatline at this point. Maybe it is just shaking on the stock motor mounts, who knows. I want to make sure I am running safely. Maybe my MAF is maxed? Maybe injectors maxed and I am leaning out? Don't know enough to make anything of it.

Thanks in advance. I want to safely run this thing at 10psi.
I have :
-large FMIC
-HKS SSQV + Reflex BPV
-GHL 3" TB Exhaust
-HKS EVC II Boost Controller
-1 step colder denso plugs
-SRI with ugly filter

I need :
-WB O2 gauge - standard size to replace Defi narrowband
-Tuned!
-Lift hanging exhaust *scrape *scrape
-To install my 10" Alpine TypeR & Xtant mono amp
-New Air filter (K&N?)
-Possibly custom air box with cold-air port

So what are people's thoughts on tuning the Unichip? Anyone heard if this is a good piggy back to tune on? I was impressed out of the box, but I dont know how hard or easy it is on the dyno.

Glad to hear you're sticking around - it would be lonely here without you :)

As for your questions, sorry - I'm of no help. lol

You have to find a unichip authorized tuner... and those are not easy to come by. I would switch over to MPI, AEM or Microtech. All great systems and whille give you much more flexibility.

Glad you're keeping your car. If I were you I would get something user tunable, like the AEM or Microtech. I think you will be much happier because you won't have to take it somewhere to get tuned everytime you add a mod. The Microtech is a great standalone unit at a great price, and Steve says its easy to tune within a couple hours. I'd go that route if i were you.

-WB O2 gauge - standard size to replace Defi narrowbandZeitronix is a nice one. Especially since it can log rpm along with O2, which most other widebands would require an extra $100 module for that. For $60 or something like that, you can log you boost along with it as well.
-Lift hanging exhaust *scrape *scrape
maybe try kartboy hangers if you don't already have them?
-New Air filter (K&N?)
I like my apexi filter, kinda pricey though...

... ha I might be selling the car... details to come

otherwise, thank you for the comments, they will be considered. Hangers are not the exhaust problem... it is sagging in the middle like the clamp fits are coming loose or something. They never fit together well.....

Car just sold for $14,500. It is on it's way to Delaware. It looked so good once all the salt was washed off it, it was hard to let go but I know I will love my next car.

... more to come. Thanks for all the support guys, I hope you will let me stick around and offer help on the MSP.

I take it you are getting your s2k. Please get some P.H.A stuff if you get one.

Not getting the s2k anymore.... a sweet car but not practical.... especially for Ohio. Legacy GT Limited is one at the top of the list as of now, but that is ever-changing.

Wait for the MK5 R32. Legacy GT's are nice cars, but a little on the boring side. The new R32 will be available in a 4 door if you're worried about practicality, and Quattro will pwn Ohio winters, lol.

Eh, the LGTs are not that boring to me. The interior is sweet and the rear-end of the exterior is the only boring part about it. Plus the 2005's dropped in price after a year and can be had for ~21,000. I will look into that other car though. Any links?

Some pics I found of the LGT in the color I want, with some upgrades. Not too bad for me, and I dont think this is boring. I will keep everyone posted.

Damn, that is a good looking car. If you dont like the looks of the GTI, you wont like the looks of the R32, same body, I think a different lip.

Go with the legacy.

The R32 is sweet though... the old golf R32s still sell in the $30,000 range!

My first reaction was the same on the Legacy, until I saw some that were slightly modified.

Well... then I read some stuff on turbo swaps. There is a turbo out there (18g) that swaps right into the LGT. With uppipe, downpipe, accessport, and everything else stock (including the fuel system), they are hitting 280AWHP and 298 TQ on 16psi safely. The injectors are still within safe range too. DAMNNNNN.
