This is borderline grip and performance, so I put it here. Feel free to move if desired.
Does the Quaife LSD require maching of any forks or is it a direct swap?

I'd think it was, but it was mentioned to me, and I'll let them speak up if they want to, that they heard somewhere machining was needed. Personally, I don't see how or why that'd be the case.

I know I spoke to wesman about this and he said he just dropped his in, and if I remember correctly focus also said the same thing.

you have to cut something to make the quaiff fit. I forget what it is but it's nothing serious. other than that, it fits like a glove.

It fits the msp b/c the lack of the speedo gear. MP3 require the maching b/c of the speedo gear I believe.

BTW noob to tranny stuff question: Whats the speedo gear?

It measures your speed and sends a signal to your speedometer.

So how does the MSP do it?

ABS sensor. We have a dummy plug where the speedo gear sensor would be on the tranny.

Sam is absoultely correct. My quaife dropped right in with no machining necessary.

You don't have to machine any FORKS (the shift forks are nowhere near the diff), but it requires a bit of work to get in.

Incorrect. You're confusing the MSP diff in an MP3 with the Quaife diff in an MP3.

Yeah, it's a bitch of a job, but it's a lot easier if you have access to a good drill press and a press. Without those two tools, the job would be hell. Read what I wrote in that thread carefully.

I remember the day you did the install and called me. It's a tough job. You have to drill out the rivets that hold the ring gear on the stock diff. Then remove the ring gear and install it on the LSD. About a 3 hr job.
