I *finally* bought an AEM wideband but I'm wondering if I should install it even though I'm using the stock exhaust right now. I will be getting a 3" exhaust later on, so should I wait to install it and do it properly with the included bung? Should I just use the second O2 housing on the stock pipes so I can have the wideband operational when I get the car back?
What would be suggested?

well, it depends. Is it the new style or old style WB?
(old style has no quick disconnect from gauge)

New style and I've seen the J pipe bung. The directions say to place it 36" downstream if utilizing turbo, though. Would that be safe? I know it'll work, just decrease life of the sensor, but if it'd be better for me to wait, I can do so.

new WB 36" down from the turbo! fuck yeah! awesome. (slightly OT)
I'd wire it in now, WTF. might as well utilize what you bought!

find a mom pop style exhaust shop and pay 25 to have them drill and weld a bung.
Or i believe beau is planning a midpipe sale, just wait for that.

Drill and Bung Dude..
My plan was to place it next to my 2nd O2.
But My Downpipe is about 3 feet longer than yours..
You can see it in the middle under the car.. :)

hey brian you ever hit anything in the road with the piping that low to the ground?
yes and its not that expensive to get another bung welded in if you are set on doing it that way

Normally that is as low as the car ever sits. The pipe will hit if the person isn't used to driving a low car.
I can drive the car for a month without hitting. Even when it hits, it's just a little "Tick" off the road, It's 304 SS so it's got alot of life yet.
The pipe was made to clear the cross member because I didn't have front and rear motor mounts. It gave the pipes some clearance as the engine moved. The plan is to get it shortened on the drivers side, that will pull the lowest part up about an inch.

Whatever you do, don't go to K&K welding. They are fucking retards.
