I know Pat has them so I'm going to ask for pics of them. I've got some I have yet to install due to not being certain about where in the frame to put them
Any chance any of you with hood pins could take pics and take measurements of where the pins are in relation to the sides of the car? Also, any tricky angles needed or anything due to the contour of the hood?

I have them in my hood. I will look through my pictures and see if I have any pictures of them.

ya dude, its TRICKY cuz where you need to drill its not just 1 layer on the hood because you drill thru a support.
it was not fun. had to calculate angles n shit

Yea, I also have some sitting here that I have been putting off because I don't want to screw it up. The more pics you guys can post the better... especially the underside of the hood, and rad support.

correct me if I am wrong but I think patrick had them in the holes of the rubber bumpers in the core support. seemed like a good idea for symetric reasons. I paid close attention bc I too have some pins layin around.

actually, mine are installed like this:
RIGHT above the headlight, almost in the center, are small circular holes. I simply drilled them out a big more, installed the stud, and then put vaseline on top of the stud, see where it hit the hood, and carefully figured out the angle.

yup. That's the easiest / best way to do it. That was the approach I was going to take, but never got around to it, and have been driving around for almost a year now without pins and have gotten to the point where I'm confident that the latch is DEFINITELY strong enough.
Another way to do it would be to mark the top of the pin with chalk and then lower the hood to transfer the mark. Vaseline might be a little harder to see.
1) Remove front bumper
2) Remove headlight housing
3) Drill hole in little circle that you can see on the frame at the front
4) Insert hood pin
5) Mark area on inside hood by either chalking up the top of the pin and closing hood to transfer mark, or tap hood on top of pin to slightly dent the inner frame of hood
6) Drill hood in area that lines up with that mark
7) put pin through holes and adjust for proper height
8) Cut extra area off pin at bottom in headlight housing area and secure with the nuts (leaving enough room for housing to be put back in)
9) Attach everything to hood
10) Replace headlight housing and front bumper

I personally do not really like them but I know for some hoods they are very required and better that it coming loose on the HWY and smacking the glass.

I'm glad my hood doesn't need them. I like how clean my hood looks without them. hell, I even ordered my hood without washer nozzle holes. but yeah, if you have to, I agree with pdh.
