View Full Version : Blown Strut?
This may sound like a complete newB question, but since I have only been driving for 4 years, I guess I am a noob...My suspension is insanely noisy and insanely harsh. I have it dropped right now with GC Coilovers, not very far though maybe an inch. How do I know if a strut is blown or not?

Leaks would be a start.
Normally, if you rock the car, it should return level and stop. If it rocks a bunch the shocks are dead. Normally I think the accepted normal wear for shocks is 100,000 Km, or 60,000 Mi...

You havent said how much milage is on the struts ,but i would say that the valve inside the the strut is wore out causeing the hashness, as for the noise the coil over are inherently noisy . the wear on the strut make this worse . just for some info ,I have 145,000 kms on my stock struts ,I am lowered on Tein S Techs ,my struts have very little compression control now but the rebound is still ok .

either your struts are underdampened (which will shortly lead to premature failure), or they're already blown... so yes, you need to upgrade them... then your ride quality and handling will improve immensely
