Good stuff... My Probe (Mazda KL engine) had one of these cooler things.
Any idea on atual numbers? Coolant isn't exactly "cool" ya know. I wonder how much the temp would actually be reduced.

MSP *has* a cooler.

oh i know. i was asking for others, so they dont feel the need to spend alot on an oem unit when they can get an aftermarket one for cheaper (if its better, hence my question). (rockon)

or for that matter, are all coolers the same as far as quality and performance is concerned?

pretty much, but you can get different sizes and all that good stuff.
why not just use the filter adaptor part and run lines to an aftermarket cooler? I dont really understand the idea of running your oil through your radiator when the coolant is around 212deg F.
Aftermarket adaptors with AN style fittings can probably be had from $20 to $55. I'll try and see if I can find one that will fit later on this week.

I wouldn't really consider this a "cooler".
An actual oil cooler has a heat sink of some sort like a radiator.

I've always wondered about these radiator style coolers. Do people run these with a thermostat of some sort? Isn't it possible to cool the oil too much?

in cooler weather yeah. It's possible to cool it down too much. I'll be using the perma-cool kit, and a thermostat that routes oil through the cooler once oil temp hits 180degrees. It tries to keep the oil temp at 180, but never closes completely to prevent cold shock once the oil temp warms up. www.perma-cool.com
