View Full Version : Ever forget your MS3 has power?

I tried to pass some people leaving my car meet last week and spun the tires like a complete jackass. Thus becoming THAT GUY. (blowup)

I am still back up to my old tricks of making people go off the road when they follow me on a certain extremely tight bend close to my house. Sure, car behind me, if a station wagon can take it at 50mph you can too!

Sucker!

I take turns driving my MS3 and my Miata up to the meets and the Miata gets me instant THAT GUY status.

Welded diff, open headers, top down.

I'll admit I was that guy most of the first day I got my Protege back after driving a Malibu, Corolla, Olds 88, and Taurus throughout the end of november and all of december.

I hit the gas, lots of wheelspin (stupid open diff I hate you), noise then some rapid acceleration, and painfully loud blow off valve.

makes me feel like a jerk but the acceleration feels so good :(

I try to restrict myself to highway onramps for doing such things :P gotta get up to speed very quickly on city onramps ;)

It must be nice to have a fast car and a not fast car so you can keep living that 'omg wow I forgot this car was fast' moment over and over :)

My MS3 is boring to drive because WHOP-DE-DO 260HP. I hardly EVER actually touch the throttle to the floor because what's the point?

Now the Miata? You have to DRIVE that bastard or you're going to stall, spin out, die from the exhaust fumes.. You name it. Even doing the speed limit and staying in my lane takes actual concentration and thought. That's good times.

lol Well when you get  bored of granny driving the MS3 I will gladly take it off your hands so you can feel the rush of driving the Miata on an everyday basis! :drunk:

I seriously think the MS3 is a boring car to drive, believe it or not. My Protege felt so much more raw and connected to the road. The MS3 feels too soft to be fun in my opinion. It's fast, but having a fast car isn't as amazing as you think it is after you've driven on the track a full 10/10ths of the limit.

in that case u can definitely pass the ms3 to the next person, i would kill to have more than double the horsepower i have now(for the record not really kill a person but kill my engine from all the boost needed to obtain that much hp, not the computer, horsepower):)

It went up a little up from when I had my Mazdaspeed Protege.

It went from RAPE to DOUBLE PENETRATION if you are wondering. :(

The insurance on my Miata is $40 a month which I still think is too much.

Will, if you get rid of the Speed, and the Miata, what are ya gonna do, walk?

I love it when douches high beam me on the freeway to get over. nothing a little throttle can fix!

damn thats cheap. ur probably over 25. last year i got into an accident (i rear ended a damn jeep w/ a tow hitch) where i was at fault, cancelled my insurance for a couple of months while i fixed my car, called up the same insurance co after it was fixed and it was cheaper. i was like :omg:then i was like " thanks alot insurance lady"(butthump)

For the record I am 24, but insurance on a 1991 car with no options is pretty cheap. :)

I'm 30, mine is $100/month (IIRC) on my MSP, $75 on my 01 ES (wife's), both are full coverage ;) - and i <3 my insurance, VERY easy to work with.

Someone told me when I was much younger that if I were married my insurance would be cheaper. I'm like, gee, what a good reason to get hitched!

As for fast/slow cars, it is nice having the difference. However I do enjoy driving the Protege because it seems so light after the Speed, I can just toss it into a curve.

Oh, and I do the same thing in my Speed with people following me. Ususally just a light tap of the brakes then blow through the turn. Then watch as they plow through behind me. I guess they don't realize a 4 door sedan can handle...

i can tell a big diff in my wife's ES and my MSP, two totally different cars (not just power wise)

chiefmg
01-14-2008, 08:50 PM
Dude, you need to upgrade her suspension. Or are you doing that on purpose?

My gf says she wishes we had a car with the handling of the Protege and the power of the Speed. She has no idea what is in store once I get the RX-7 to its final place...

hey does the ms3 have alot of torque steer? im selling my lx and might get a ms3 or msp, when i drove the msp i noticed it had some torque steer when i almost hit a mailbox cuz i down shifted while turning.

Jackelope
01-18-2008, 01:13 PM
i figure that is a problem w/ any FWD drive car w/ decent power? (excluding msp, it just does it haha)

It doesn't have bad torque steer because it doesn't have much torque haha

chiefmg
01-18-2008, 07:38 PM
It also has to do with the mfg using unequal-length halfshafts. IIRC at least one generation of the 626 had halfshafts that were equal in length thus avoiding torque steer. Not sure why Mazda gave that up, probably money. Let's face it, Joe Average probably doesn't even know what torque steer is, let alone why it is bad.

01-18-2008, 07:49 PM
The MS3 gear box has equal length halfshafts and the traction control takes care of the rest. My MSP on the other hand.. My girlfriend almost took out a mailbox the first time she drove it.

chiefmg
01-18-2008, 08:50 PM
I didn't know the MS3 had them, so the problem there is down to HP/TQ. Rear wheel drive for the win...although there you have to deal with the back end stepping out.

I like the respnose when I pull up to a stop light in my MSP. Everyone and their mom wants to race it, but why? I think it's quick, but she isn't that fast. I like just picking off the morons. Last week a Caviler Z24. hehehe. He didn't see it coming. First he piped off and squeeled his tires. I let him go off the line then smack that A$$. It's fun to put retards in their place. Most people think I'm that guy, but I'm really not. I've been driving long enough to know who or what not to mess with.
I'll take the MS3 off your hands though if ur board with it.
Ur not getting my MSP, but I'll let u think about it.

I spent the weekend before last driving around my mom's Yaris hatchback. (auto!)
It was raining a bit when I got my car back and I laid tires without really putting much foot into it. I was just accustomed to the awesome power of the cuddly assassin.
My tires sometimes hate me.

With the Pro5, the title should be

"Ever forget your pro5 doesn't have power?"
