Stock CD player won't read

Stock CD player on my 2000 Dx worked one time after I bought the car. Now it loads the CD, displays "Tr" for a moment, then spits it out. I tried:
- cleaner CD
- pulling the cabin fuse, waiting a few, replace
Any suggestions for how to get this thing working again?

replace that stock crap with a decent unit....lol..I'm still rocking the stocker also

I don't think I have ever seen it display that before. Is the CD an original, or a burned disc of MP3s. I have hit or miss luck with burned cds. Some play fine, and others, the damn thing wont read at all. Try an original copy cd, and see if it works...

They seem to never get this part right.
MSP's have a major issue with the stock unit and so do the Miatas. *shakes head*

got it fixed :)

pulled the unit, removed the top and front panel, and cleaned the laser head with a q-tip and alcohol.

while it was out I cleaned the volume rheostat with electrical cleaner - it had been pretty flakey.

just the OEM stereo I know, but I like the stock look - it says mazda

I always play with my stock unit.. it's chillin on a shelf in my room. I only used it for the drive home from the dealership, but it was excellent and intuitive as I remember it.
