I have a 1.8 sitting at a machine shop.
What would *you* recommend to do?

I already have some ideas but I want to see other opinions.

What I plan on doing is going low compression to allow high boost and the internals will be forged, that's about as far as I have thought this out. Hahaha..

My goals are just to get it back to the way it was. When it was a fucking beast. When I'd come up next to domestics and we'd go and I'd just smile and wave as the Miata tortured them. Drifting isn't my main thing here, I'm more of street (we do it on closed roads or at 3am when no one is around so don't even start bitching) racing and 1/4. I don't want a drag car persay, I want an all-around kind of car. I know it's not exactly that doable (due to different setups) but I know I could 1/4 and autox. Maybe do some SCCA? Eph, no clue.

Hahaha. There was a magazine a year or so ago, can't remember whether it was GRM, or one of the "big" magazines, but they did a review on 3 different Locost builds...one of which had a 1.8L out of a BMW 320i...early 80's. My dad had a 320i that I used as a DD while swapping the GSR motor into the Civic. I'm sure it was a balanced setup, but damn is that motor a dog!

I think you wouldn't be able to see the text that way :P

granted the cars are like 83% opacity right now, I could just lower it some more.

I was thinking of just stroking the text but I wasn't sitting at the computer with the svg file at the time to do that. On the logo .psd files it's a bitmap of the text, and anti-aliased, so if I stroke it, it looks funny (I tried).

We've discussed this.

a) It wouldn't be my daily driver
b) We've been through the pros and very few cons of the decision.
c) It's not going to happen, you should know me better than that..

Clearly I don't want the MSM to be over 300wrhp. I will say it time and time again that when I did have a nice number at the wheels I *hated* driving the damn thing. I was constantly having to watch my ass. Now, when the coilovers got slapped on things had changed but I was still having to carefully maneuver myself around turns.

I'm having a hard time deciding which car I want to go balls out with. There is this red first gen that has been sitting at a lot for *ages.* I know the owner's grandson (Jason) and he said he'll price it at $1200 for me.

Now, if I ended up getting this Miata I would definitely not give two shits about it's well-being. Mainly because it's not a limited edition car, they are seen everywhere, and are cheap. With the MSM it's not a mass produced car and it still holds a value of over $10,000. The NA will be horseshit to me.

I'm ok with hardtops and the prht (because they did what they could to keep the weight down) but almost all of the fun of the miata is "oh hey it's nice and warm and sunny let's do some open air driving". I feel claustrophobic whenever the top is up on a Miata and it isn't raining

The only thing I can compare to is the BMW Z4 and Z4 Coupe. The Coupe, although it's very fun to drive, is a royal bitch to drive. You can't see out of it at all. So many blind spots, low roof, did I mention blind spots? I'm sure the Miata will be similar.
