Hi Guys,

I have a 2001 SP20 in Australia.
I have a problem where I seem to be going through shifter bushings every 10,000kms or so.
Originally, I was not happy with the excessive movement of the shifter while in neutral and gear. I had my mechanic take a look at it and he replaced the bushings and it was then much better with very little movement while in gear.
Over time it loosened up again and after 10,000kms i had the bushings replaced again, now after 10,000 more kms it is back to how it was originally.
One thing worth noting is that when i take the foot off the accelerator and re-apply there is decent movement in the shifter (forwards and backwards).

Should I be looking at some other components (eg. engine mounts) that could be the cause of this or is it just a design issue with wear and tear?

Thanks for your help.

James

faulty engine mounts definately would cause shifting issues

Sounds like motor mounts could be the problem. Corksport sells some motor mount inserts, bronze oil bushings and some shifter bushings you can look into as well.
