Turbocharging the R4

I am new to teh forum and i have a JDM 2000 mazda R4 (1.8L 4WD A/T FP-DE) and i want some more performance. can i just buy a turbo kit or is ity easier/bettr/cheaper to buy a turbocharged FS-DE engine and fit it to the existing transmision since i understand that there is no major difference in the two engines.
