Double din is the way to go.
I'm really looking for a touchscreen radio 2din with 6,5" screen for my
navigation.
Our dash is made for two din, it looks purrfect with it.

I love those double d's hehehe! I've been told that the japanese head units operate on a different bandwidth(??) than their american counterparts. That being the case we in the states wouldn't be able to use the rado just the cd or md, etc. Anybody have any more info on this?

i do...
i have evaluated that we would need some "band expander" for the radio part, a plug'n'play device... it's often used/soldin the UK, some double din units on UK ebay are already equipped with it...no real problem.
Very nice 2din's :)
Now you have to put some prices and make some group buy :)

Very nice systems.
If there was a guarantee that the systems would work in North America ( all pieces included in the kit type of thing) it would be pretty interesting.

4 more pics and an info:
us americans can get some stuff HERE (http://www.audiocubes.com/category/Home,+Portable+Audio_Car+Stereo.html) but for a pretty horrendous price i'm afraid..so self importing would be the way to go...... and... i think i may have found some company who could help us get hands on such items safely... who would be interested in getting such an item?

I really like that first old skool one.
Pending on the price of the items I would have interest.

ouch yeah those prices in the link are pretty bad.
That old school one is cool too. I bet it would be expensive to import that one or the Sony one I like here though :(

if found one more company which sells JDM headunits worldwide: http://www.melting-pot.com/ ..but again: not very inexpensive :ß
i'd like to suggest something:
first we could call up the national websites of the main manufacturers and look if and what doubline din headunits they have available for our countries. maybe it's possible to get some of the same or very similar models without going the long way to japan.

Well, I found out last night that my head unit isn't working right. The face folds down so the CD can be ejected, but now it shuts off when the face folds down so I can't get the cd out. So I will be looking for a not too expensive replacment.

Your best bet is, go to all the name brand sites like:
Kenwood (http://www.kenwoodaudio.com)
Sony (http://www.sony.com)
and saying "hmm, uh hmm..." and seeing what you like.
For Example:
Kenwood DC-X9533U (http://www.kenwoodaudio.com/australia/prodDetails.asp?Cat=Car%20Entertainment&SubCat=Head%20Unit&Model=KDC-X9533U)
