Okay so I finally got around to doing the fog mod and I decided to post one with pictures!

DO THIS MOD AT YOUR OWN RISK. I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY IF, WHEN FOLLOWING THESE DIRECTIONS, YOU SCREW SOMETHING UP AND DESTROY YOUR CAR. This is what I did and it works for me.

Here's what you need:
16 gauge wire
Wire cutters/strippers
Electrical Tape

#1: Disconnect the battery

#2: Take off side cover near the driver door::
http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/6317/dsc04366vi6.jpg

#3: Unplug the blue connector from the fog on/off button that's by the steering wheel

#4: Look under the dash directly above the clutch pedal to find this small black box:: [Two angles of the black box/white connector]
http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/2769/dsc04371abcbx0.jpg

#5: Cut the red wire about 3 or 4 inches from the white connector, I cut it a little close to the connector, I suggest you don't do the same, it made it harder to strip::
http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/8274/dsc04381abcpq7.jpg
#6: Take the blue connect and find the green wire to strip it [DON'T CUT] just enough to twist the 16 gauge wire around::
http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/4505/dsc04372yi6.jpg

#7: After you twist the new wire around the green wire [blue connector], and twist the new wire to the red wire [white connector], wrap the exposed wire with electrical tape.
http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/6373/dsc04382abcvp5.jpg
#8: Before you put the cover back on, reconnect the battery and try it out.

If it works, make sure any wire is secured and everything is put back.
This only took me around 20-30 minutes to do, and I love it!!
If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Edit: When high beams are on, the fogs will turn off.
Edit2: I used electrical tape, but solder will joint the two wires together better.

This is one mod that I'd love to do.

Do these directions allow for the fogs to stay on with the high beams?

Cleveland has a really great Mazda scene through the Cleveland 6 Club, it's worth the drive. Maybe once it gets warmer they'll have some big meet I can make it over to.. Cleveland is I think 4 hours from here? Maybe 3?

I don't think so. Basically the fog light relay waits for a signal wire saying 'hey lowbeams are on', and this fools it by feeding it power when just the parking lights are on.

I did the fog light mod over 3 years ago but this sounds like exactly the same process and they still turn off with the high beams.

it's not like our fog lights actually put out usable light, they're just there to look pretty :p

Yeah now that I think about it, they turn off with the high beams.

Does the switch still control the fogs or are they permanently on?

The switch still controls them. They just operate when the driving lights are on too, instead of just low beams.

Ok I'm kinda confused. Which end of the red wire do i attach to the green one?? What do i do with the other end of the red wire that i cut?? so confusing.

Other then that nice How-to.

You attach the redwire coming out of the connector to the green wire. The other end, tape it up. You don't use it anymore.

Grab the soldering gun while your at it!!! i soldered mine just for peace of mind. not hard at all. I also used a extra wire to run between the red and green made it ALOT easier.

wish I had a soldering gun, and knew how to solder. I may redo this later with butt connectors, as I typically dont like the twist and pray method.

^
I wouldn't either.

If you want to learn just go out and get yourself a 5 buck soldering iron at radio shack and some resin core solder. the resin is the stuff that makes the metals accept the solder. Then just get some wire strip it and that's here trial and error takes over!!! you cant hurt wire that's not connected to anything!!

wow I forgot about doing this thread... lol
I can solder, I just didn't have a soldering gun at the time of the mod.
I put HID's in my P5 (and now thinking of putting HIDs in my fogs too).
I took off my bumper, but you don't have to.
I think I did, because I was thinking about tinting my headlight covers.

Werd up! Sweetness! Also, HUGE FACTOR FOR STOCK FOGS!!

PROPER AIMING! I simply AIMed callie's fogs UP and HUGE difference.

I'll soon be reporting how my new fogs workout. Projectors FTW!!!!
Even with stock bulbs in the projectors, they looked like this

Projectors above, and stockers with PIAA plasma ions in em below
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y13/cbrjeeper/projectoroverstock.jpg

and here is the output of the piaa plasma ions onthe road
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y13/cbrjeeper/stockroad.jpg

and projectors with stock bulbs(soon to be replaced with PIAA plasma ions or HID's. don't know yet)and i know they are aimed a bit higher than teh stocks

I want projectors : ( : ( : (
I don't think my fogs are low, my low beams on my headlights were super high because I had to tilt them down because I kept blinding everyone.
Pictures were taken before I tilted them.
