Here is another 'Other Mazda'.
This is my 1988 323GT. You could say that this is the great grandfather of the current MazdaSpeed3. Nice little ride.

I've done the suspension with H&R/Tokicos and I just installed a SRI using a K&N cone filter. The engine was rebuilt to stock specs a few months ago and I replaced some of the front end bushings with some ploy-bushings I sourced from Derek at Corksport. I run a set of 15" 240SX wheels during summer. All that is left to be done is replace the clutch, however I will leave that for 2009.

Mazda 323GT/323GTX:
GT Sedan manufactured in 1988 & GTX Hatchbacks in 1988 and 1989
FWD sedan & AWD hatchback
1.6L DOHC Factory Turbocharged and Intercooled 4-banger rated at 132bhp
5-spd Getrag shifter
Approximately 700 sedans and 1250 hatchbacks made it over to NA back in the day.
This baby was purchased in 1988 for $13K.....Not sure how much that is in today's dollars but it must have been a lot of moolah back then.
I've had it for a little over 2 years having purchased it from the original owner. I did a basic teardown and some minor bodywork.

It's $23606 in 2008 dollars.

so roughly the same price as a MS3 sport (a little more actually)

I can't remember what magazine it was (I wanna say Sport Compact Car), but they had a 323 GTX modified and running great. They covered some important topics regarding easy performance mods, and maintenance issues. Maybe its worth digging up and posting...
