WHAT: Vintage Grand Prix: British Marks, Austin-Healy Sprite
WHEN: June 28-29th
WHERE: MidOhio Sports Car Course: Lexington, Ohio
HOW MUCH: $25 for the Weekend + Shipping in advance, or $35 at the gate. $20 to camp.
WEBSITE: www.midohio.com (http://www.midohio.com)
ON the 27th-29th Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course will be hosting a Vintage Grand Prix. A few of my friends and I will be going that weekend, and I figured I'd bring this to your attention because its car related and cheap. The weekend tickets are $25 if ordered in advance, there was a 9 dollar shipping charge though. However at the gate the tickets are $35 anyway so might as well order in advance and make sure you have them, and if you choose to camp it is an additional $20. I'll be driving back and forth however.
Here's some info on the event
"Take a trip through time and stir old memories - while gathering new ones - during the Vintage Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio. Vintage cars from around the world will compete on Mid-Ohio's 2.4-mile, 15-turn racing surface while auto enthusiasts show off their classic machines off the track. Visit with the numerous car clubs in attendance to share your enthusiasm for their classic machines, or bring your own group to join in the fun! Featured MarqueSVRA, along with Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course have selected the Austin Healey Sprite as the feature for 2008 at the Vintage Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio. As the featured marque, the Austin Healey Sprite will be the highlight of many weekend activities including a 50th Anniversary race on-track and the 10th Annual British Car Showdown."
If you've never been to Mid Ohio, it's a blast. This is a fairly cheap event, for example the ALMS/IRL weekend will set you back $70-100.
As far as I remember you will be able to buy beer, not 100% sure if you can bring your own. For camping I want to say yes, but it has to be plastic bottles, but you should be ok if you act somewhat responsible and not obvious. IE.. don't bring a keg, don't get blitzed and run around, don't litter. I could be completely wrong, or I could be right on the alchol policy.
