View Full Version : Installing eyelids...
So this is going to sound really dumb, but what do I do...
I mean, I know I have to put that double sided tape on them, and stick em to the headlights, but how exactly do I do that?
Tape has a red and a yellow side - does it matter which ones goes on the lid, and which one goes on the lights?
There are two pieces of tape to each eyelid... they are just rectangular pieces, so obviously these need to be cut ... how do I cut em, how many pieces? Where should I place em?
Whoever has done this before, let me know, please. :)
Thanks!

Let me ease your mind. Just send me the eyelids, even though they aren't my style I will install them on my car so you don't give yourself an ulcer worrying that you won't get them on correctly. See what a nice guy I am?
Seriously, let me see how I can help. I haven't ever installed these but the basics are pretty much the same for any body accessory. The tape will have the same adhesive on each side so it doesn't matter which side you put on which. I will recommend that you get one of 3M's kits to install it, should be available at your friendly auto parts store. Since you apparently already have the double-sided tape all you really need is the adhesive accelerator (I bought a whole box, they come in individual packets like those hand wipes). Clean the area where the tape will be with alcohol, let dry then run the accelerator over it. Let that dry then install.
As for where to place the tape, I would dry fit the eyelids and see just where they are touching the headlight. Take into consideration any lift you might experience at highway speeds. Look at the backside of the lids to see where you have the most surface area for the tape to adhere. Also look at where you might be able to see the tape if you place it in a certain area. You can always test fit it with masking tape doubled over to see where it will best be placed. Once you have it set up then you can do the above steps to put on the double-sided tape.
Let us know how it comes out.

A little more messy, but you can also use silicone. I guarantee they will NEVER fall off
put em on today. Just cleaned the area and put em on the tape... had to cut the tape into smaller/longer stripes, but that's about it. They seem to be staying on there alright, even after the freeway... and looks like it won't be hard to peel em off either.
Thanks guys!! :)
