Since I'm NA, I'm posting it here, but it should probably be in a "general tech" section if there was one:

Awesome explanation of motor oil. It's a long read, so get comfortable.

What does everyone use anyway? I always go with 5w30
5w30 in the winter, 10w30 in the summers

Speaking of which, I'm due for my oil change...royal purple/K&N sitting in the basement...waiting for my magnetic oil drain plug to come in...
I'm running the KN too. the magnetic drain plug i put 2 changes ago. i was surprised to see that there wasnt much metal on the plug on the last change. i was happy.

I never had any deposits on mine either, but check out what was inside the tranny when I opened it up to replace the valve body!!

I just switched over to Amsoil 5w30. It's a full synth, similar to Total. They claim that the oil change intervals are 25K miles under regular usage, and 15K under Hard Conditions. Mine will prolly get changed waay before them, since I used a mobil1 filter, instead of the Amsoil one.
