Just an idea for the mods, let's combine all the "member's other cars" into one thread.

Nice ride btw Dave
Needs some tint and some big pimpin chrome wheels

YOu get a pic of the projector headlight output?

SpooledupRacing
05-12-2008, 03:20 PM
what projector headlights...

no big pimpin wheels that will throw off geometry with the AWD.. It will stay stock ride height.. drak tint would be bad ass.

SpooledupRacing

moved to the Automotive Work Logs subforum. No, you didn't post it in the wrong place, I just realized the work logs subforum was mazda-specific and it doesn't necessarily need to be :)

as for merging these threads into one.. nah, they're two different cars and these threads can be used as work logs and such.

I love E30's. I couldn't even think of a mod to start with. The ix's had most every option you could get. Just keep it going man!

I'll have to have my buddy send me some photos of his car. He's got a black 86 325es. Swapped in an S50 and SLAMMED the thing. The car is all black with pin stripe in M colors. Plastic bumpers are from 89 I think. He did a retrofit. He's got the euro grille which basically is the US grille except the top bar goes the whole way across and isn't broken up by the headlights. He's on bilsteins with Ireland Engineering springs. Just bought a supercharger kit for the thing. Z4 shifter with solid bronze shifter bushings. M3 Vader seats from the e36 M3s. Elipses. Smoked headlights and tail lights, all black trim. Magnaflow exhaust. BBS wheels. Just a hot car.

Thats awsome..

As for slamming this car.. not happening.. that will toss the whole geometry of the IX off and also causes CV axle problems... this car was made at this height for a reason it was BMW's idea of a "winter car" Since I live in MI I just want to make it clean and be happy :)

I will look into the bumpers etc..

ok today I got the black trim repainted and did some shadowline to the chrome around the windows..

What do u guys think?

BEFORE the shadow line
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v88/turboTSI/IMG00014.jpg

After the shadow line and the paint on

next step is to re-wash the car and wax the entire thing.. then replace the decklid and the hood.. then I will paint the wiper arms.

not sure if I will keep the kidneys chrome or if I should go black with them to.
then I need to get my euro plate installed.

o_O on any 03+ it's just vinyl on the trim around the windows, on earlier models it was painted. Unless you're talking about some other piece of the black window trim.

if you wanna continue this discussion I can move stuff to the protege subforum.

Since i'm getting moved, i'll still post in this one

My vinyl trim around the windows is turning whitish. What product out there will give me that new vinyl look and smell? lol

M3 Evo Kit, A Must Doooooo!!!!!!!!!

Are you aware of how much work that is? He'd have to replace the rear quarter and find new front fenders as well as a new trunk. After all that he could have sold what he has and just bought an M3

SATimko

Yeah...the E30 M3's were quite a bit of custom work with few shared panels...

I know how much since I have seem them here. He can put the bumper, skirt, spoiler, modified them a bit to fit stock fenders and not go wide like the original. I have seem few like that on internet...

the wide fenders make the car though..

Today I get to replace the middle/upper rad hose and flush the cooling system out..

ELF/Total coolant going in it's place.

Ok so last night I went out and conqured my oil leak..

I had a problem where the pressure valve on the bottom of the oil filter housing would leak oil (preaty bad) when the engine was running..

I had to:
remove the oil cooler lines
remove the oil filter HOUSING from the block
use a 15" breaker bar to apply enough pressure to push the valve down while I removed the retainer clip.

Install a new valve cap and o-ring and new retainer clip
reinstall the housing to the block
put the oil cooler lines back on the housing
start/check for leaks

Everything seemed fine so I topped off the car this morning. Tonight I will go get the car washed and an undercarriage degreasing and clean and keep an eye for drips, leaks and oil level dropping..

If this is fixed then next step is to move to the front brakes.

Gotta love BMWs. Sounds like a lot of work, but at the same time, stuff usually just falls in place...at least that's what I've found with my experiences.

SpooledupRacing
08-07-2008, 09:10 AM
yeah it was not a hard job.. sucked it was under the exhaust manifold..

I did spend abotu an hour on my back trying to remove it from the bottom (I am glad it would not come off from the bottom)

if it stopped leaking I am happy

next is brakers and muffler hanger

Z

dont forget the muffler bearings w/ the hanger!
