http://jalopnik.com/assets/resources/2008/05/Mazda-6-s-grand-touring.jpgLooks like Mazda is shopping around pricing and package options among its most die hard fans (like Zach at Mazda6club.com) and there is quite a range of trim and options. Spread across seven different option levels, the Mazda6 looks like it will start in the neighborhood of $19,850 for the Mazda6 i SV with the 170 HP four, and an array of options and will go all the way up to $29,150 for the gee-whiz Mazda6 s Grand Touring with a 272 HP 3.5L V6 and nearly every gadget and gee-gaw you can think of. yup, way too huge of a rear. It's pretty lame, I'm really pissed at Mazda for replacing a perfectly good car with a gross big American turd, while at the same time replacing said perfectly good car with an amazing upgrade in Europe and Japan.

I heard through my dealer GM, that there will be a ton of options for it to buy customization wise for the body. Not sure exactly, but I know the Aero Package for the CX-7 was a huge hit.

Pricing isn't bad...but the rest of it is. Makes me sad in pants.

i like it. Just wish they took my advice about offering 2 different mazdaspeed packages.

MS6-sport = 2.5L DISI turbo awd, gutted down like the EvoMR, no power anything, am/fm radio w/ 4 speakers, no frills

MS6-GT = 3.5L Supercharged fwd with 325hp like the Impala/montecarlo SS/cadillac, loaded up for those wanting luxury over performance but still enough grunt to kick ass in traffic.

Doesn't 325 hp in a front wheel drive car sound like...I dunno...pointless? With that much power, why not keep it awd?

well, I've seen plenty of 300+fwd GM's that seem to do alright. The new SS's come to mind. While my MS6 outruns them easily they still put the power down nicely.

Also, you can reduce the final drive or adjust the gear ratios to help reel in the power off the line while still giving you plenty of pulling power later on.

Yeah, but GM blows. Most are auto-tragic too.

I dunno...they should jsut stick with AWD to stay ahead of the competition. 325 hp, fwd in the snow...yeah...failboat.

awd = weight. weight = poor handling poor handling is NOT = to Mazda.

I love mazdas but my ms6 is a pig.

Well...I guess what I was trying to imply was that with the potential wheelspin from anything over 250 hp, it would be more beneficial to get the higher power to the ground better. 300+ hp will just roast tires. I don't care how much lighter it may be, it would get smoked by a smart car thru 1st and 2nd.

^^ yeah if the driver was dumb and just planted the pedal. You don't always have to stab it out of the hole. Sometimes it's ok to pedal it a little to keep wheelspin under control. I had this issue with my SHO+N20. Just launch as hard as the grip would allow, when it's hooked up nicely then you punch it.
