I'm not sure if this is the place to make this post, but I don't see any better, so here it is! madgabCX7 let me know about this site with a PM over on the "other" general Mazda forums a while ago, and I'm finally getting around to really checking it out. I live in Lansing, MI, and work in Auburn Hills. I drive a 2005 Mazda3s 4-door with a fairly good list of modifications. My original intent was to get a HiBoost turbo kit, but I decided about a year ago that I like the car too much the way it is, and it's been too fantastically reliable to mess up my commuter car by installing a turbo. My previous car was a very customized supercharged Focus, and it definitely had some reliability issues due to my messing around with it.
So now my plan is to buy another car to be my "recreational" vehicle and occasional track car. I'm hoping this car can be the upcoming Mazda RX-# with the 1.6L direct inject rotary and 7-speed dual-clutch automated manual (the wife has to be able to drive it, too, and I like these transmissions for track work, anyway), but I don't know if I want to wait until at least the 2012 model year. I guess we'll see. There are other cars on my list of considerations, but the transmission requirement shortens the list of acceptable choices considerably, since I will not have this car be a traditional "slush box" unless it's one fantastic auto (a few are, like that in the BMW 3 and 1 Series, which will probably be replaced soon with BMW's upcoming twin-clutch manual).
But, regardless, I love my Mazda3. It's possibly the best long distance commuter car I could imagine owning. If the URL is allowed, you can see more of it here:
