OK, I brought the MSP to the BBQ meet last Sat. and finally
put her on the dyno not impressed with the #'s but at least I
now know I'm not leaning out. here's some pics and the print out.
this was with hard pipes, upgraded BPV, and a unichip w/ stock map A
with 7.5psi.

should have been a 3rd gear pull... and they should have had a fan in front of your car....

My guess is that you would have seen much better power band

Third gear... what gear did I blow? ;)

yeah no dice on third gear pulls with Proteges. Aw man no graphs with torque?

12.5 is lean to me...:p

Rich bitch for me! 10.5 afr all from 3500 to 6000rpm. :)

3rd gear would have made more power then 4th...

its one pull on a dyno besides you blew 3rd because you were power shifting into 3rd and slamming the gas... on a dyno you put it in 3rd nice get the rpms to your band then floor it..

I'm tellin ya he should not have done the pull in 4th..

3rd gear pull and there should have been fans...

i thought 4th gear is where you want it, because its the 1:1 gear, so less power loss through the box. also, why only up to 5000rpm?

3rd gear pulls the hardest... Anyone who has drivin a msp shoudl know on the road 3rd gear pulls the hardest... that is where u will see the most power on a dyno...

You also NEED a fan in front of the car to simulate on road air flow through the intercooler..

I think that was under rated

I had him bring it up to 6300 rpm, I don't know why it only shows up
to 5000 rpms

I'm tellin ya they fucked up.. that was a shotty dyno run

It doesn't help that he had come all the way from GR to Muskegon just moments before, heatsoak was prevalent.

Oh and Dave ;) I wasn't exactly "power shifting" when mine when out, we started the run in third on the highway at about 55. I was just running that much power the teeth sheared off. :( doh.

That dyno was consistently lower than I expected people's cars all day

4th gear is the most accurate gear to dyno a Protege in.

Should have had him take it to 7k rpm.. I'm glad I did, my peak power is past 6300.

That's weird because it's a dynojet, they're known for having high numbers. Somethin was up that's for sure.

Exactly what I thought.

Yes dynojets are usually high but I think there were alot of factors gone wrong with that setup that day...

And I still think acuracy due to ratio is one thing but for POWER 3rd gear will pull harder then 4th gear.. the numbers may beoff a touch as far as real world accuracy however the numbers would be higher because you get more power in 3rd then 4th I bet..

I know in the 7 I would do 3rd... in my conquest I did 3rd

I still think its funny Chad did a 5th gear pull lol..

Next time make sure they have a fan, try it in 3rd and go to 6800-7K

OH and let your car cool down FIRST before u hit the dyno.. its a turbo u want to be cooled off before u go trying to make power.

btw I dont thnk TIm would out power his 3rd gear especially not on a dyno

Why dyno just for a big number not for an accurate one? I don't understand that logic.

lol I forgot about that cooling off part too. I drove over 3 hours to the dyno and the car didn't even have time to get shut off between getting there and doing the dyno pulls. win!

you'll get a more accurate number in fourth gear because the losses will be minimized.

its not that much of a difference between 3rd and 4th in ratio I say 3rd because that is where u will get the real numbers...

in drag racing or even street racing you do most your run in 3rd yes... thats where the car will have a more useable power band.

they should of had a fan, and your car is probably more powerful than that. unless there is something wrong with it. isnt that stock number?

it's pretty close to the stock #'s. thats alright though it just means I need more
